Don’t what the ‘office button’ is, but in excel 2003, try this:

By default the slash (/) key acts as a shortcut to the Excel menu bar. However, starting yesterday it works on all but on “edit” I changed the slash to another key and it shows the same problem. The shortcut to menu works on all but the “edit” page.
